Here at Moon Bear Travel we love finding new, undiscovered places, but we also find enjoyment in the popular, busy hotspots. One such place is Green Mile Coffee. This café next to Bukchon Hanok Village has been popular for long enough that I need not write an article about it, but it’s good enough for me to want to share it with you all.
Specialising in green tea-based drinks and desserts, Green Mile Coffee has been a favourite of visitors to the Bukchon area for several years now. It holds its own in the café scene of the area, offering a peaceful space to find a little calm and rest after hours spent trawling the tourist-filled streets. At the same time, its menu boasts a concise yet varied selection of drinks and desserts with its main feature – green tea – offered in several forms.
If you’re a green tea-lover, Green Mile Coffee is the place to be. Even if you prefer a coffee over a cup of the green stuff (like me!) there is something on the menu for everyone. Their signature Green Mile latte layers espresso and milk on top of a smooth green tea concentrate, and their tiramisu is rich but soft and light. Both coming highly recommended poses no surprise after trying them – they’re both high quality and delicious.
A good coffee and cake are always made better by a beautiful place to enjoy them in, and Green Mile Coffee certainly provides on that front. It’s interior design features a lot of warm browns in smooth wood and shallow carpets. The low ceilings and wood-paneled walls echo a quiet cabin, and the wide window lets the place bathe in oodles of natural light.
Quality edible offerings and serene interior aside, the standout feature of Green Mile Coffee is, of course, its rooftop view. A door at the top of a narrow staircase from the second floor opens out onto a white graveled rooftop with views over traditional Korean hanok houses. Nestled right next to a quiet area of the famous Bukchon Hanok Village, the wide rooftop affords visitors a completely new viewpoint of the traditional houses.
Green Mile Coffee is a small green tea haven just a stone’s throw from popular tourist attractions in downtown Seoul. Perfect for taking a rest and recharging after a day out walking, it’s a highly-recommended old favourite of both residents and visitors alike.

How to get there: Line 3, Anguk Station, exit 2. Walk straight up the road, crossing the crossroads, and the café is on your right after 10 min/600m.
Accessibility: Ordering counter is on the 1F, small space. The main seating area is on the 2F, accessible by a flight of stairs. The rooftop area is also accessible only by stairs, and has a gravel floor with stepping stones.
